Former Board Member, Stockton Art League<\/p>\n
Joan Marie Richards was a lifelong advocate for the arts, education, and community service in San Joaquin County. Born in Buffalo, New York, Joan spent her youth traveling throughout the United States before settling in California. She graduated from Lowell High School in San Francisco and earned a Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley.<\/p>\n
A passionate supporter of culture and civic life, Joan was an active member of the Stockton Art League and served on its Board of Directors. She was also a docent at the Haggin Museum, a member of the San Joaquin County Schools Advisory Committee, and a participant in the Museum of the Monterey Peninsula Art (MMA).<\/p>\n
Beyond the arts, Joan devoted more than four decades to strengthening families and children\u2019s services. After moving to Lodi in 1965, she helped found the Little Methodist Preschool and later served as Director of the Regional Camp Fire Girls Council. In 1980, she became Executive Director of the Family Resource & Referral Center, where she worked for 21 years to advance quality childcare, child development, and family wellbeing throughout San Joaquin County.<\/p>\n
Joan\u2019s generosity, leadership, and love for community left a lasting impact across the region.
