Important Update

Health Update Regarding COVID-19
Dear Artists, Members, & Patrons
of the Stockton Art League

As the City of Stockton and the State of California has declared a state of emergency due to the COVID-19, We have come to the decision to close the Elsie May Goodwin Gallery through March 30, 2020. All scheduled gallery hours and public events will be canceled until further notice. We will do our best to reschedule these events throughout 2020.

We will continue conducting our Youth Art Classes on March 14 and will be in direct communication with parents for any updates on the remaining Saturday classes. We know these classes are something our students look forward to and our instructors will make adjustments to follow the CDC guidelines. During youth classes, the Goodwin Gallery will be closed to the public.

In these circumstances, the well-being of all who come through our doors is paramount and during our closure we are making immediate changes, including increased cleaning regiments and other recommended protocols (issued by the Center for Disease Control, WHO and our National and State governments), for staff and visitors to follow.

The March Artist of the Month Reception has been postponed until further notice. We want to thank our March Artist of the the Month, Stephen Coyle for his generosity and understanding at this time which should have been an exciting weekend to see friends and enjoy his current show. Stephen is also one of our youth art instructors who will be dedicating part of his day to teach the students on Saturday. Thank you Stephen.

We want to err on the side of caution for our members, patrons, and visitors. We will be moving our communication and services towards our website, online store, and social media sites. We will take this opportunity to explore alternative ways to interact and provide services for our community. If you would like to join us on this journey, please follow us following locations:

We will be conducting organization operations remotely or during closed office hours. It has been with the help of members and the board of directors that we have been cleaning our facilities in preparations for the remaining classes and updating the community on our proactive planning.

Artists: We encourage you to isolate yourselves into the studio and take this opportunity to create new artworks. We appreciate that our artists dedicate 3 hours a month to keep the gallery open to the public. We believe it is of the upmost importance to maintain the safety of our community. Enjoy and share your new creative projects on our social media pages with #stocktonart

Community Supporters: Please consider supporting the arts by donating to the Stockton Art League, buying artwork from community artists, supporting local businesses, or a combination of any during this time. We are working on ways to lighten the financial burden during this closure and any amount is greatly appreciated.

We look forward to seeing you at the Elsie May Goodwin Gallery when we are able to reopen.

For any additional questions, please email us at [email protected]

Sincerely,

Jessica Fong
Gallery Director
