"Our Endangered California"
Artist Reception: 4pm - 6pm

Originally scheduled for November 2020, "Our Endangered California" will be presented by the Tuesday Artists at the Stockton Art League Gallery on Nov 13 - Dec 11.
The artists were inspired to present a collection of original works representing a selection of California’s endangered animals, plants, and environments. Using the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s publication, “Threatened and Endangered Species,” the artists have compiled a small sample to represent the variety of our state’s natural inhabitants. In doing so, the artists hope to inspire a greater knowledge and appreciation of endangered/threatened California species. Perhaps this display will prompt further concern, discussion, and actions that will benefit our endangered state, from its dwindling water resources to its smallest mammal, reptile, insect, and plant.
The Tuesday Artists have been painting together for several years and are comprised of talented artists who represent a variety of styles and media. A portion of the proceeds from sales will be donated to the local Delta-Sierra Group, a regional branch of the Sierra Club.

Catherine Christensen
Catherine is a retired speech therapist with a lifelong love of learning, nature and the arts.
Dennis Droge
With a background in calligraphy, his work is heavily
influenced by the illuminating manuscript of the Middle Ages
and the Renaissance.
Laurie Eager
Laurie is a native California girl, a lover of adventure travel,
all things French, and dark chocolate. Her art is inspired by
her love of nature, an expression of the joy and gratitude she
feels to be surrounded by God’s abundant gifts.
Marcela Hutak
When she was in high school, Marcella was among two
chosen to go to art school in Prague, but her mother didn’t
allow her to move out of her hometown, so she became a
medical technologist instead. But that little spark for
painting was there all those years, so finally, in retirement,
she started to paint.
Pat Kim
Pat did not discover watercolor until she was in her
seventies. She has not stopped painting since. She has
always loved to write and to draw, so it was a natural
evolution that she began writing and illustrating children’s
books. She has written seven such books and has enjoyed
every minute of the process.
Mary Little
Mary began her pursuit of art by taking classes though OLLI
at Pacific with Deanna Hunt. She is a board member of the
Stockton Art League and co-chairs the Youth Art Program
held in the Goodwin Gallery.

Jeannie Matsumoto
Watercolor and graphic arts are my primary field of interest.
Since retirement, I have been a University of Pacific OLLI
student under Professor of Arts, Deanna Hunt. It has been an
enjoyable hobby.
Sondra Morris
Sondra loves the luminosity and the play of light and shadows that bring a picture to life.
Arlene Potter
A lifetime passion for art has led me to this wonderful group
of artists. As I age, I feel the need to replicate earth’s beauty
and to bring attention to the many species that are rapidly
being lost.
Ann Scott
Ann received a BFA from the University of Georgia in 1972
and she has pursued continuing education in art ever since.
She feels so fortunate to be a part of this local art
community.
Nancy Thomas
Nancy is a retired microbiologist, and when looking for
something to occupy her mind, she found that painting
presented an enjoyable challenge.
Ann Zinck
Deanna Hunt and my good friends in this group provide the
knowledge, laughter, and support that encourages me to
persist. I hope those viewing these works will appreciate our
beautiful State and support all efforts to save it.

Youth Art Program has a featured tree at 2021 Festival of Trees

The annual Festival of Trees at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum, set for Dec. 4 and 5, in Lodi is a spellbinding introduction to the holiday season. This family holiday event features more than 60 uniquely decorated Christmas trees, children’s activities and make and take crafts, entertainment, food, photos with Santa, historical exhibits and demonstrations of pioneer or handcrafted work. The event takes on a historic flair with docents dressed in Victorian and pioneer clothes. Visitors will feel as though they took a step back in time to celebrate the holidays.
The Festival of Trees is held at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum, 11793 Micke Grove Road in Lodi. The museum is in Micke Grove Park just south of Lodi. The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. each day.
Tickets:
- General admission is $15
- Children aged 2 to 12 are admitted for $5 each
- Children under 2 are admitted free.
Tickets may be purchased in advance beginning in mid-October by calling the museum. With advance tickets, the $6 parking fee in Micke Grove Park is waived. Funds raised at the Festival of Trees supports the museum’s youth and educational programs. A Senior Preview event, for those who have trouble in large crowds, will take place on December 3 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Tickets for the Senior Preview are $8.
